The Story of Carrot Tan Jam - From the founder and formulator Anastacia, ZASSNI Organic Skincare.
I grew up by the beach and was never afraid of the sun as Television advertisements would tell me to do. I knew the sun is life giving and nothing could live without it. I saw the glow the sun and sea gave my skin but also the emotional boost I felt with the natural sun giving Vitamin D and the mineral rich sea waters - so I savored the Thalassotherapy every summer. My parents are from Greece and they also grew up by the beach. My mum in particular loved the beach so much and was so obsessed with getting a tan she wished she was born African. In the summer she would put her Greek coffee in a thermos and leave for the beach early in the morning and stayed there all day to watch the sunset.
When I began my skincare formulation journey, my mum asked me to make her something she could use for tanning - She didn't ask for a wrinkle or anti-aging cream but something for tanning.
I dived into my research and wanted to create something completely natural for her that would give her the results she needed fast, while it also nourished her skin (carrots are amazing for ageing skin) and made it soft with silky feel. This formula after-all was being developed for the beautiful woman that gave birth to me so it had to be superior to others, natural, good for the skin and while its focused on the tan I wanted it to also have beautiful skin benefits - so that she was getting nourishment, softness, smoothness, pro-youthifying properties, protection from dehydration and above all an Amazing Deep Golden Tan!
While I was developing, I remembered being at the beach in Greece with my mum and auntie Marika where auntie Marika asked for the tanning product we were using at the time which looked like a jelly. She asked: "Could you pass me that marmalade so I can put some on too?" And that is how the name 'Carrot Tan Jam' was created.

J'ai grandi au bord de la mer et je n'ai jamais eu peur du soleil, contrairement à ce que les publicités télévisées laissaient entendre. Je savais que le soleil est essentiel à la vie et que rien ne peut vivre sans lui. J'ai constaté l'éclat que le soleil et la mer donnaient à ma peau, mais aussi le bien-être émotionnel que me procurait le soleil naturel, source de vitamine D, et les eaux marines riches en minéraux. C'est pourquoi je savourais les séances de thalassothérapie chaque été. Mes parents sont grecs et ont eux aussi grandi au bord de la mer. Ma mère, en particulier, adorait la plage et était tellement obsédée par le bronzage qu'elle aurait souhaité être née africaine. L'été, elle préparait son café grec dans un thermos et partait tôt le matin pour la plage, où elle restait toute la journée à admirer le coucher du soleil.
Lorsque j'ai commencé à formuler des produits de soins de la peau, ma mère m'a demandé de lui préparer un produit pour bronzer. Elle ne m'a pas demandé une crème antirides ou anti-âge, mais un produit pour bronzer.
Je me suis plongée dans mes recherches et j'ai voulu créer pour elle un produit entièrement naturel qui lui apporterait rapidement les résultats escomptés, tout en nourrissant sa peau (les carottes sont excellentes pour les peaux matures) et en la laissant douce et soyeuse. Après tout, cette formule était conçue pour la merveilleuse femme qui m'a donné naissance ; elle se devait donc d'être supérieure aux autres, naturelle, bénéfique pour la peau et, bien que son objectif principal soit le bronzage, je souhaitais également qu'elle offre de nombreux bienfaits pour la peau : nutrition, douceur, lissage, propriétés anti-âge, protection contre la déshydratation et, surtout, un magnifique bronzage doré et profond !
Pendant que je développais mon autobronzant, je me suis souvenue d'une journée à la plage en Grèce avec ma mère et ma tante Marika. Celle-ci m'avait demandé le produit autobronzant que nous utilisions à l'époque, qui ressemblait à de la gelée. Elle avait dit : « Pourriez-vous me passer la marmelade pour que j'en mette aussi ? » C'est ainsi qu'est né le nom « Confiture de Carottes Autobronzantes » .
